Totem has several meanings. One is typically associated with a protective or defining emblem representing a social unit (a tribe or a family). It can be related to a natural place or an animal. In abstract concept totem can be viewed as a sign or guiding value. In this case totem has a direct connotation with an abstract figurative art object. 

After completing research around archeological images including traditional sacred items, the aim of this exhibition was to create a group of pieces with symbolic and figurative characteristics of a totem. At the same time, the idea was to produce objects with ‘human made’ or social hints but without direct references to artificial forms, human or animal bodies.
