Devil in the Detail

The colour black determines the direction of this recent series of works. Black in all its dark absence conveys a simple elegance and derives notions of secrecy, loss and otherness.

I am borrowing from many a dark tale and personal loss...

A jumble of stories and sources including collaged materials are arranged, stitched together to create or reconstruct a world within the painting, in which a new kind of sensibility can rule.

Bringing paint and stitch together creates a conversation that is fresh simple and playful a pictorial interior landscape in which anything (and everything) can be included, and that enjoys its own sensibility.
